2014 Everglades Challenge

With just three days left to get all the last minute preparation done, I feel the butterflies in my gut.
I cant think about anything else but the EC.  I am having a hard time keeping my mind on my job.  Early weather reports are calling for light winds out of the NE for the start.  Kinda reminds me of my last attempt on the Expedition Windsurfer.  The day started out light and turned into a gale.  I hope it blows 15-18 out of the NW all week.  Follow the adventure here:  http://www.watertribe.com/Events/ChallengeGMapper.aspx
I am WindWalker.  This year we have two other racers who are doing the EC on windsurfers.  They are using standard boards without any storage so all their gear will be on top of the boards.  I hope they have less gear than I do.

Having so little time to train for the EC I have to take every opportunity I can to get in paddling time.  I decided that I would pass on watching another night of the Olympics and do a night paddle down the Paynes Creek into the Peace River and then down the Peace for a few miles.  I was on the water at 5pm and after having to pull my boat over numerous snags I made it to the Peace River at 7:45.  I paddled down to Herd Bridge arriving around 9:30.  It was a very beautiful and productive paddle.  I was able to test out a new seat and get in some rigorous paddling.  I need to do more but time is running our on me.
   No worries!

This is the year for the Everglades Challenge and the Expedition Windsurfer.

This past year flew by!  I cant remember a year that went by so fast.  It has been a very busy year to say the least.  I sold my landscape business, went back into the restaurant business with one company and ended up at another in just a few months.  I quit that company and started my own kayak, canoe and SUP outfitters business here on the beautiful Peace River, all the while I have been working on the Kuleana Adventure Craft project and trying to get ready for this years EC.
So barring any major problems I'm going to be on the beach for this years race.
Follow along as we work our way down the west coast of Florida the first week of March.  It will be interesting.
